This Land Rover by Dinky Toys was the first Dinky I ever had it had the typical bland die cast driver found on tractors etc. in light brown color. It also had grey tyres and a tow hook. Very basic but solid little car, it were sold seperately but could have a little trailer of the same color and dimensions as shown below. (1959 )

This is the Land Rover Mk1 by Corgi Toys. There were a few variations of this model, like the one with horse box trailer above in light brown. The basic green one below. These were destinctive with s solid plate metal chassis smaller windows than the Mk2 model and a detailed front bumper, which normally broke off at the links. It had windows but no interior detail.

This Mk1 actually started life as a breakdown truck. It had a little yellow conopy with spot light and Gorgi Toys logo on the sides. There was a hook arm of die cast metal and whinch on a axle in the back, there was a wheel attached to this axle that looked like a spare wheel but could actually wind up the whinch tow hook if rotated. (note the small hole at the back of the cab and open back lid for the hook.)
Here is a nice example of the Land Rover Mk2 by Gorgi. It featured a yellow vacuum formed interior bit with steering wheel and had windows. It had a die cast chassis with sturdy suspension and a bonnet mounted sparewheel as well as a removable plastic canvas canopy. Enter subhead content here |
